When the local storage of the ICE unit is not enough, transfer times associated with nearline NAS or archive systems are avoided using a directly attached SAN for instant access to media.
Any ICE unit can simultaneously play the same file from the single shared storage. All playout channels can instantly playback a file ingesting on another unit. Once a file is in the SAN, all file transfer bandwidth delays and bottlenecks are removed.
Any transfer from the archive is available to all connected ICE units and ICE SAN removes duplication of media assets on multiple playout servers.
